The Gateway Chorus is open to 4th and 5th grade students. Anyone who enjoys singing with others is invited and encouraged to sign up. There are no auditions. (Just permission slips!) Throughout the Chorus Enrichment program, students will be developing vocal techniques, ear training, and music literacy skills through a varied repertoire. We will be studying harmony and melody, different languages, musical form, rhythm and meter, ensemble skills, and stage presence. Our musical selections will give students the opportunity to sing music from many different places by a multitude of composers. There will be opportunities for solos and small ensemble pieces for those students who are interested in developing that particular skill.
- Rehearsals will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays during Recess/Club time from 11:00-11:30.
- Students are expected to be on time and bring their music folder to every rehearsal.
- Rehearsal Attendance IS Mandatory. We are a community of singers, and our success relies on every individual to do their part. Multiple unexcused absences will result in dismissal from the ensemble.
- Students are expected to wear their Gateway Owl Musician uniform t-shirt to every performance.
